Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Trent Bash (ranked 24277 p4p, 4492 weight class) and John Edmonds (ranked 454 p4p, 401 weight class). Edmonds is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Frankie Smith - Double Dutch Bus. John Edmonds told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trent Bash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 46 - 44 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Edmonds!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edmonds jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Edmonds defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bash.
Bash walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Bash fails with the takedown
and Edmonds counters with a right hand to the body.
Edmonds fails with a takedown attempt.
Bash tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Edmonds manages to circle out of the way.
Bash shoots and misses
and Edmonds counters with a right hand to the body.

Edmonds tests Bash's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Edmonds throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bash.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Edmonds dips to his left and cracks Bash with an uppercut!
Edmonds is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bash had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Bash shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Edmonds to counter with a crisp jab.

Edmonds looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bash is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Edmonds.
Bash with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Edmonds to score with a decent uppercut.
Bash walks into a stiff left hand from Edmonds.
Bash dives in for a single leg takedown but Edmonds sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Bash changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Edmonds fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Edmonds had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bash defends it easily.

and Edmonds counters with a three punch combo that has Bash backing up. Bash nods at Edmonds to acknowledge the strikes.
Bash shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Edmonds defends it nicely.
Edmonds fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Edmonds leaves Bash with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Edmonds has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bash has freed his hand and lives to survive another� well, another couple of seconds at least!

Bash bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Edmonds looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bash has picked Edmonds up and slammed him! Edmonds can't keep hold of the triangle and Bash manages to pass to side control!

Edmonds tries to bench press Bash off him but Bash keeps the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bash drops back, looking for a kneebar! Edmonds looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Edmonds looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Edmonds!

John Edmonds comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Edmonds has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
