Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miras Diaz (ranked 4087 p4p, 4103 weight class) and Jake Kern (ranked 0 p4p, 315 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miras Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Kern! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kern shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kern showed some decent athleticism there. Diaz trying to control from the bottom.

Kern seems to be looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kern wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working. Diaz wants to control but Kern is keeping busy.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
Kern wants to work for an arm triangle but Diaz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Diaz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Diaz is wriggling around but Kern manages to pass to half guard.
Kern is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Diaz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kern. Kern lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kern with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Kern wants to control but Diaz is keeping him busy. Kern slips a nice elbow through Diaz's hands, connecting with Diaz's forehead. Kern is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Kern trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom.
 The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kern seems to be working for a kimura but Diaz defends the submission attempt.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Kern keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Diaz wants to control but Kern is keeping busy.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Diaz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kern counters with a nice double leg into side control. Diaz won't be happy with that. Diaz is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kern is controlling him well.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Kern working away. Kern controlling from side mount. Kern lands some shots froms side control. Diaz is trying to improve his position. Diaz gets back to half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kern is nestled in close to Diaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Diaz taking some punishment here, with Kern in his half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Kern dominated that round. That's time! Diaz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Kern looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Diaz! Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Kern is dominant here and he's now got Diaz's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kern biding his time, looking for the opening.
Kern is looking to control Diaz but Diaz is wriggling around and keeping busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kern's guard. Nice work there by Diaz.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Kern is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jake Kern has got the better of the ground game so far. Kern is pulling down on Diaz's head. It's preventing any offense from Diaz, at least for the moment. Diaz slips nicely into half guard. Diaz is keen to just control but Kern is a slippery customer. Diaz prevents Kern from improving his position. Diaz is stalling here. Kern is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Diaz seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kern has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Kern working away.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Kern avoids the strikes from the bottom by Diaz.
Kern tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kern has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kern tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Diaz manages to get back to half guard.

Kern stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Diaz to get to his feet. Diaz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kern defends it nicely. Diaz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kern looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Kern has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Kern is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kern is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Diaz has managed to free his arm - good work. Kern seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Kern showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Kern feints and as Diaz raises his hands in defense, Kern changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kern manages to pass to side control.

Kern decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Miras Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Diaz feints and as Kern raises his hands in defense, Diaz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kern wriggles free and stands up.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz throws a combination that misses
and Kern moves into the clinch. Kern wants a takedown but no success here.
Kern goes for a takedown in the clinch but Diaz prevents it.
Kern fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Miras Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Kern. Diaz is trying to break the clinch but Kern has him pressed against the cage.
Kern breaks from the clinch.
Diaz tries to clinch up. Diaz keeps the fight on the outside. Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kern swats him away and circles back towards the center.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Kern leaves Diaz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kern gets a double leg takedown into Diaz's guard. Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Kern controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Diaz working a defensive guard here.
Diaz will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kern is aware though and is defending well. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kern stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Kern drives through with a takedown into guard. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Kern from controlling successfully. Kern must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kern stands up and waves to Diaz to follow him. Diaz fails with a takedown attempt.
Kern scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Diaz scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Kern manages to mount him!
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Kern wants to control the pace but Diaz is squirming around nicely. Diaz is in all sorts of trouble here.

Kern stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Miras Diaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jake Kern is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Diaz throws a head kick that misses.
And that's the end of the fight! Jake Kern comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kern has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
