This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 5 losses; Nedser Kiely! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 19 losses; Billy Riley! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and Anthony Taglia.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?
Kiely takes the fight into the clinch. Riley is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kiely pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kiely gets control of Riley's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kiely will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Kiely is looking for a triangle but Riley pushes his legs off easily.
Kiely looking to hit a scissor sweep but Riley is one step ahead there. Kiely seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Kiely trying to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kiely keeping full guard, as Riley tries to pass. Kiely looking to hit a scissor sweep but Riley is one step ahead there.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Riley content to stall in guard here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kiely wants to sweep here but Riley controlling him for the moment. Kiely wants to improve his position but instead Riley has moved into half guard.

Kiely wants to get back to full guard but Riley has passed into side control.  That's four minutes gone in the round. It looks like Riley might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Kiely wants to improve his position but Riley is controlling well.

My spies in HELLCADEMY inform me that Riley has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Riley uses his free foot to push down on Kiely's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kiely. Riley tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Kiely is controlling an arm, preventing Riley from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Kiely tries to get back to half guard but can't. Riley manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kiely to take his back! Score +3 for taking back: Kiely (0) vs (9) Riley Riley is hanging on to Kiely's back as he tries to escape.
Kiely breaks Riley's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Kiely (2) vs (9) Riley A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Riley holds on and takes a little breather.
Riley has his foot on Kiely's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kiely works his way back into a safe position though.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Kiely trying to control but Riley is working from the bottom. Riley pulls Kiely in to control the position. Kiely tries to free his leg and advance position but Riley is retaining full guard. Kiely passes Riley's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Riley makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Riley. Riley trying to keep a closed guard but Kiely is proving a slippery customer.

 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Kiely tries to free his leg and advance position but Riley is retaining full guard. Kiely wants to control from the top but Riley keeps moving. Riley pulls Kiely in close to prevent any damage. Riley trying to keep a closed guard but Kiely is proving a slippery customer.
Kiely will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Kiely stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Riley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Kiely forces his way into half guard. Kiely wants to advance to full mount but Riley doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Kiely wants to pass the guard but Riley is keeping the position. Riley seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Kiely looking to pass the guard.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Kiely is looking to advance position but Riley has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Kiely (2) vs (13) Riley Kiely working to try and regain half guard.
Kiely is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Kiely tries to reverse the position but Riley maintains control. Riley takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Kiely is working to get back to half guard.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Kiely tries to improve his position but instead Riley has taken his back! Score +3 for taking back: Kiely (2) vs (16) Riley Riley biding his time, looking for the opening.
Kiely is really stuck here.
Riley has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kiely's body.
Riley's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Kiely rolls, trying to escape but Riley keeps control of the position.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Riley just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Kiely trying to control the hands but Riley breaks the grip. Riley controlling from the back. Riley with more of the same as he continues to hold on. I really don't envy Kiely right now.
Riley controls the action. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Riley is trying to stick to Kiely's back but Kiely is turning into Riley. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Riley's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kiely. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Kiely (4) vs (16) Riley
And that's the end of the fight! Riley wins on points by 16 to 4. After winning the bout, Billy Riley thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. Nedser Kiely was interviewed post fight and said 'I did not loose this fight, the ref was not watching what was happening.'. |
