And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 44 wins and 53 losses; Filmore Everett! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and William Peck.

Everett takes the fight into the clinch.
Hardy has Everett pressed up against the ropes. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hardy pulls back from the ropes and twists to the side, sending Everett tumbling to the mat - Hardy dives into Everett's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hardy (2) vs (0) Everett Hardy is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Hardy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Everett for as long as he can get away with.
Everett looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hardy has picked Everett up and slammed him! Everett can't keep hold of the triangle and Hardy manages to pass to side control! The referee asks Hardy politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hardy prefers to stall for the moment though. Everett is looking for a sweep. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Hardy swings around for an armbar but Everett sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hardy's guard. Hardy is pulling down on Everett's head. It's preventing any offense from Everett, at least for the moment. Everett wants to pass the guard but Hardy is keeping the position.  That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy is refusing to be controlled, as Everett sits in half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Everett wants to free his trapped foot but Hardy is holding on for dear life with his legs. Everett stalling away here and it's allowed Hardy to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Everett trying to control the position from guard on top but Hardy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hardy wants to sweep here but Everett controlling him for the moment.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Everett wants to control from the top but Hardy keeps moving. Everett slips nicely into half guard. We've been informed that Everett has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Everett wants to take a breather but Hardy is having none of it.

Everett is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hardy sees it coming and defends easily.

 That's six minutes gone in the round. Everett tries to move to full mount but Hardy actually manages to regain half guard. Hardy is looking for a sweep. Everett is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Everett is keen to just control but Hardy is a slippery customer. Hardy controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Everett is trying to control the action in half guard but Hardy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Everett is pressing down on Hardy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hardy is holding on for now.

Everett is looking for a kimura but Hardy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Everett to get the leverage. Everett wants to advance to full mount but Hardy doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Everett trying to control the position from guard on top but Hardy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Everett wants to pass the guard but Hardy is keeping the position. Everett stays in close to Hardy's body and controls the position.

Hardy seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Hardy controlling the position. Everett looking to sit in guard and control but Hardy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.  That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Hardy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Hardy avoids the attempt from Everett to control. Everett tries to get back to half guard but can't.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Everett tries to hold on but Hardy postures up. Hardy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Everett is looking to escape. Hardy controlling the pace for now. Everett wants to control but Hardy is having none of it. Hardy manages to capitalize on a mistake by Everett to take his back! Score +3 for taking back: Hardy (13) vs (5) Everett Everett tries to roll but Hardy sticks to his back.
Everett is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Hardy off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Hardy controlling from the back. Everett tries to break free.
Hardy is riding his opponent, not letting Everett buck him off. Hardy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Hardy is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Everett knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Everett for a finish. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Everett tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that's the end of the fight! Hardy takes the fight on points by 13 to 5. A less than humble Nero Hardy misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities. |
