Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Lara (ranked 1010 p4p, 1112 weight class) and Eddie Alvarez (ranked 130 p4p, 133 weight class). Roberto Lara could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Eddie Alvarez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roberto Lara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lara.
Alvarez stuffs the takedown.
Alvarez pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Lara slips a jab from Alvarez.
Lara manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Alvarez on his heels. He'll look to pass Alvarez's guard now, I'm sure.

Alvarez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lara controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lara accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Lara tries to free his leg and advance position but Alvarez is retaining full guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvarez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lara moves away.
Lara darts in looking for a takedown but Alvarez gets double underhooks and turns Lara into the cage.
Alvarez lands a hook to the side of the head.
A head punch on the inside from Alvarez fails to land.
Lara wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roberto Lara. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alvarez prevents a takedown attempt there.

Alvarez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lara ducks under a wild hook from Alvarez.
Lara looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Alvarez takes a swing at Lara's ribcage but misses.
Eddie Alvarez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circling - Alvarez throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lara walks into a left hand.

Lara avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lara gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Alvarez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Alvarez counters with a straight right hand.
Alvarez scores with a nice strike.
Lara looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alvarez is fending him off so far but Lara persists. Nope, Alvarez circles away and we're back to standing.
Alvarez let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Lara shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alvarez pinned against the cage. Alvarez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lara closes the distance and clinches up with Alvarez, looking for a takedown. Lara pushes Alvarez against the cage but Alvarez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Alvarez looks to land a combination. Lara sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Lara is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez misses with a body shot.
Lara feinted with a counter takedown.
Oh Lara is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lara tries for a takedown but Alvarez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lara fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lara takes one on the button.
A shot to the liver by Alvarez. Beautiful body shot.
Lara misses with a wild body shot.
Lara throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alvarez's waist but Alvarez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lara off to one side.
Alvarez lands a jab to the nose.
Alvarez has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Alvarez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Alvarez lands with a big right hook that stumbles Lara - he's out on his feet here! Alvarez follows up with another monster hook that separates Lara from consciousness! Lara falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Alvarez stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Eddie Alvarez!
After the fight, Eddie Alvarez was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
