PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kugus Amiga (ranked 23194 p4p, 23398 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 70 - 63 - 8, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kugus Amiga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 68 - 70 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Nada closes the distance and clinches up with Amiga, looking for a takedown. Nada pushes Amiga against the cage but Amiga circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Amiga looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Nada! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Nada wants to control but Amiga postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nada might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Amiga haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Amiga taking a breather here.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Nada wants to control but Amiga postures up. Nada tries to bench press Amiga off him but Amiga keeps the position. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Amiga working away.
 The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Nada shoots for a takedown but Amiga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. It appears Amiga was looking to counter with a kick there. Nada misses with an attempted mid kick.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Amiga dives in and scores a takedown into Nada's guard. Nada seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Nada is pulling down on Amiga's head. It's preventing any offense from Amiga, at least for the moment. Amiga controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nada is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Nada shoots for a takedown but Amiga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kugus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Amiga fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kugus Amiga dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Nada tries to score a power double leg takedown but Amiga sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nada somewhat. Amiga tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nada defends well and Amiga ends up having to push Nada into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Nada counters with a body kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Amiga prevents a takedown attempt there.
Nada has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Amiga avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Kugus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Nada drops down looking for an ankle pick but Amiga pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nada closes this distance looking for a takedown but Amiga circles away. It appears Amiga was looking to counter with a kick there. Nada shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Amiga pinned against the cage. Amiga gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Amiga keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Amiga bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Amiga controlling from side mount.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Amiga landing strikes. Amiga is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nada can do to turn this around? Amiga is chipping away with strikes.
Nada is looking to reverse the position. Nada keeps trying to improve his position. Amiga is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Amiga wants to control but Nada is keeping him busy. Nada wants to control but Amiga postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Nada doesn't succeed with the takedown and Amiga counters with a nice body kick.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Nada keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Nada follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. Amiga will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Amiga is trying to control the position from the bottom.

 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Amiga fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Nada thinks about the counter body kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kugus Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Amiga is defended easily by Nada.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Nada tries to close the distance and clinch up but Amiga swats him away and circles back towards the center. Amiga is looking to counter with a body kick. Way Nada has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kugus Amiga is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Nada tries to sprawl but Amiga drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Nada makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nada looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Amiga is fending him off so far but Nada persists. Nope, Amiga circles away and we're back to standing. Amiga drops down looking for a counter takedown but Nada sprawls and moves away.
And that's the end of the fight! Way Nada comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Amiga has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
