PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franz Gruber (ranked 2578 p4p, 23758 weight class) and Emir Bosnic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Franz Gruber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Emir Bosnic!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bosnic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bosnic looks winded!

Gruber throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bosnic was covering up waiting for the punch and Gruber finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bosnic wants to get back to his feet but Gruber passes into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gruber is nestled in close to Bosnic, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Gruber has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gruber seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bosnic for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gruber closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bosnic did well to prevent Gruber getting side control.

Gruber slips a nice elbow through Bosnic's hands, connecting with Bosnic's forehead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Gruber.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gruber shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bosnic napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bosnic bucks up and tries to throw Gruber off but instead Gruber has got his back!
Bosnic is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Gruber off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Bosnic is trapped and Gruber is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Gruber controls the position.
Gruber is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bosnic can do to turn this around?

We've been informed that Bosnic has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Bosnic grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gruber lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Bosnic.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gruber continues to hold on tight.

Bosnic covers up after that shot from Gruber.
Gruber keeps control of the position easily here as Bosnic tries to buck him off.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee is taking a good look at Bosnic as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Gruber!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Gruber lands strikes to the head.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Gruber controlling the positon.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gruber gets the takedown into side control.
Gruber in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
You can see the frustration on Bosnic's face as Gruber controls the position.
Franz Gruber overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well Gruber has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
