Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Mercer (ranked 833 p4p, 1441 weight class) and Osmany Pizziconi (ranked 109 p4p, 179 weight class). Mercer comes to the cage accompanied by Why Can't We Be Friends by WAR. Osmany Pizziconi will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 35 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Mercer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Osmany Pizziconi! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pizziconi fails with a takedown attempt. Mercer stuffs the takedown attempt from Pizziconi. Pizziconi gets slowly back to his feet. Osmany Pizziconi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pizziconi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mercer circles away. Bobby Mercer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Osmany Pizziconi. Pizziconi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mercer sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Pizziconi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mercer defends it nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mercer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mercer wants it to stay on the feet. Mercer throws a head kick but Pizziconi moves out of range.
Mercer lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Pizziconi tries to close the distance and clinch but Mercer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Pizziconi checks a leg kick nicely.

Pizziconi feints and as Mercer raises his hands in defense, Pizziconi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mercer wants to stand but Pizziconi is controlling the position. Pizziconi content to stall in guard here. Mercer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pizziconi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Pizziconi trying to control the position from guard on top but Mercer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mercer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pizziconi is one step ahead there. Pizziconi slips nicely into half guard. Mercer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Pizziconi prevents Mercer from standing back up.
Pizziconi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Pizziconi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mercer's head. Ground and pound from Pizziconi. Pizziconi is trying to control. Mercer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Mercer wants to get back to full guard. Pizziconi missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Pizziconi scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Mercer pushes Pizziconi off looking to stand but Pizziconi dives back in and keeps control.
Mercer is concentrating on defense, preventing Pizziconi from advancing position. Pizziconi is taking a breather. Mercer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer trying to hold on to Pizziconi's head to control him but Pizziconi postures up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Mercer works his way to full guard. Good work. Pizziconi chips away with some ground and pound. Mercer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pizziconi on the ground. Pizziconi stays in close to Mercer's body and controls the position. Pizziconi wants to control from the top but Mercer keeps moving. Pizziconi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Pizziconi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mercer. Pizziconi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Mercer fails to land with a series of punches.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mercer. Pizziconi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mercer moves into the clinch successfully.
Mercer tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Pizziconi jumps guard and drags Mercer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Pizziconi keeping moving, preventing Mercer from controlling successfully. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pizziconi is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Mercer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Bobby Mercer will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Pizziconi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pizziconi showed some decent athleticism there.
Pizziconi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mercer is trying to control but can't.
Pizziconi missing with the ground and pound from half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mercer regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Pizziconi. Pizziconi with a flurry of punches that miss. Pizziconi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pizziconi with a nice head shot there. Mercer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
 The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Pizziconi is looking for a sweep. Mercer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mercer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pizziconi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Pizziconi actively working from the bottom here. Pizziconi on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Pizziconi is staying active underneath Mercer, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pizziconi is looking to improve his position.
Pizziconi is holding on to half guard well. Mercer wants to control but Pizziconi is keeping him busy. Mercer perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Bobby Mercer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Pizziconi shoots in and drives through. Mercer sprawls well. Pizziconi gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Pizziconi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mercer circles away.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pizziconi clinches with his opponent.
Mercer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mercer misses with a wild body shot. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pizziconi. Mercer is looking for a counter combo. Bobby Mercer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Osmany Pizziconi. Mercer lands a nice shot that snaps Pizziconi's head back.
Pizziconi wants to clinch up but Mercer keeps it at a distance. A punch combination from Mercer misses. Mercer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pizziconi can do to turn this around? Pizziconi misses with a takedown attempt - Mercer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Pizziconi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Mercer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Pizziconi walks into a left hand. Mercer misses with a combination
and Pizziconi counters with a single leg into guard. Mercer didn't expect that.
Mercer has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pizziconi off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pizziconi shoots in but no luck this time. Pizziconi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mercer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Pizziconi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pizziconi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mercer as he jumps to the side. Nice sprawl there from Mercer as Pizziconi shoots in. Mercer stuffs the takedown attempt from Pizziconi. Pizziconi gets slowly back to his feet. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Mercer dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Pizziconi takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Pizziconi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mercer as he jumps to the side. Mercer lands a slapping body shot.
Pizziconi feints and as Mercer raises his hands in defense, Pizziconi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mercer has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pizziconi off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pizziconi is defended easily by Mercer. Mercer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Nice uppercut there from Mercer. Bobby Mercer is winning the standup battle so far. Mercer tries to clinch up but Pizziconi circles away and keeps his distance. A head kick by Pizziconi misses enabling Mercer to counter with a crisp jab. Pizziconi takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Pizziconi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. A solid leg kick lands there for Mercer.
Pizziconi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mercer.
Pizziconi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. It looked like Mercer was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Pizziconi. Bobby Mercer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Osmany Pizziconi. Pizziconi tries to clinch but Mercer is having none of it. No luck for Pizziconi with that takedown attempt. Pizziconi slips a jab and a cross from Mercer.
Mercer throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pizziconi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Pizziconi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A big left from Mercer misses. Pizziconi feints the counter takedown. Mercer lands the left hand. Horrible takedown attempt by Pizziconi or perhaps it was just good defense by Mercer, which made it look bad.
Pizziconi closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pizziconi being controlled against the cage. Both guys are working to get underhooks.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Pizziconi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mercer pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mercer works over Pizziconi's head and body with a nice combination. Pizziconi fails in his attempt to clinch. Pizziconi tries to clinch but Mercer moves out of range. Mercer stuffs the takedown attempt from Pizziconi. Pizziconi gets slowly back to his feet. Mercer attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Mercer throws a series of punches but Pizziconi moves out of range. Pizziconi avoids the head kick by Mercer.
Mercer misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Pizziconi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Pizziconi throwing shots but Mercer is blocking nicely. Osmany Pizziconi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Mercer is trying to maintain the position but Pizziconi is very close to passing his half guard. Mercer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pizziconi. Mercer tries to roll over but Pizziconi keeps him under control. Nice strikes from Pizziconi there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mercer trying to control but Pizziconi postures up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pizziconi lands a nice short elbow. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pizziconi connects with a nice short shot to Mercer's temple. Mercer is looking for a sweep. Pizziconi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bobby Mercer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Mercer here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Pizziconi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that's the end of the fight! Bobby Mercer showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mercer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
