Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shaman Weaver (ranked 883 p4p, 2702 weight class) and Juan Carlos (ranked 101 p4p, 272 weight class). Weaver's entrance music is Close Your Eyes by Acen. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shaman Weaver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 19 - 1, fighting out of New York, Juan Carlos!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weaver throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Carlos fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Weaver manages to avoid it.
Weaver definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Weaver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Carlos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
An attempted straight right counter from Weaver misses the target.
Weaver slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Carlos attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Carlos throws an overhand right that lands on Weaver's shoulder, as Weaver tries to avoid the shot.

Weaver lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carlos looks to land a combination but Weaver avoids it well.
A counter left hand to the body from Weaver misses its target.
Carlos tries to bum rush Weaver with a series of wild strikes but Weaver uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Carlos fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Weaver cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Weaver counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Weaver shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Weaver showed some decent athleticism there.
Carlos tries to get to full guard but Weaver has control of the leg.

Weaver is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Carlos sees it coming and defends easily.
Weaver wants to free his trapped foot but Carlos is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Weaver slips a nice elbow through Carlos's hands, connecting with Carlos's forehead.
Weaver wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carlos keeps working.
Weaver is thwarting Carlos's attempts to control the position.
Carlos manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Weaver looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Weaver tries to pass to full mount but Carlos defends it.
Weaver seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Carlos makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Carlos.
Weaver forces his way into half guard.
Weaver winds up and cracks Carlos with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Weaver is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Carlos defends it well.
Carlos is not content to let Weaver control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Shaman Weaver dominated that round.
That's time! Weaver's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Weaver moves out of range of the strikes.
Shaman Weaver is winning the standup battle so far.
A looping hook to the body misses from Weaver. Carlos does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carlos misses with a body kick.
Carlos throws a series of punches but Weaver moves out of range.
Weaver slips a jab and a cross from Carlos.

Weaver drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Weaver not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weaver passes Carlos's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Weaver looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carlos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Weaver connects with a nice short shot to Carlos's temple.

Weaver wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carlos keeps working.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Weaver in particular looking to stall.

Carlos has hold of Weaver's hands but Weaver slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Weaver is trying to control the action in half guard but Carlos is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Weaver has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Weaver is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Carlos can do to turn this around?

Weaver tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Weaver takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Carlos tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Carlos is squirming around, avoiding Weaver's attempts to control the action.

Carlos tries to reverse the position but Weaver maintains control.

Weaver connects with a bit shot that sees Carlos covering up! More strikes from Weaver and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Weaver is our winner by TKO!
