PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Camron Allen (ranked 5404 p4p, 25596 weight class) and Nico Mcgee (ranked 331 p4p, 353 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Camron Allen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nico Mcgee! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and James Atkins.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Allen tries to clinch but fails miserably and Mcgee counters with a straight right hand.
Mcgee rushes Allen and presses him up against the cage.
Mcgee has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Allen uses from the top position. Allen throwing strikes from guard but Mcgee blocks nicely. Mcgee throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Mcgee controlling Allen's posture. Allen wants to get up but he can't break Mcgee's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Allen is fighting to break Mcgee's control of his arms but Mcgee is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Allen prevents Mcgee from getting back to his feet. Allen trying to control but Mcgee is working from the bottom.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcgee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Allen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Allen trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcgee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mcgee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Allen's guard.
Allen wants to sweep but no luck. Mcgee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Allen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mcgee working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Allen working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mcgee has passed into half guard!
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Allen is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mcgee scores with a couple of nice shots.
Mcgee is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Allen sees it coming and defends easily. Allen wants to get back to his feet. Mcgee blocks the strikes from Allen.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mcgee is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mcgee controlling the pace. Allen on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Mcgee scoring with strikes to the body and head. Ground and pound from Mcgee. Mcgee not doing much here.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Mcgee tries to pass the half guard into mount. Allen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Mcgee controlling the action here. Allen is trying to maintain the position but Mcgee is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mcgee is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Allen is looking to get to half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Nico Mcgee dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Mcgee's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Mcgee duly obliges.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Mcgee enables Allen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mcgee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mcgee is looking for a triangle but Allen pushes his legs off easily.
Allen trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcgee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mcgee trying to keep a closed guard but Allen is proving a slippery customer.
Allen is posturing up here but Mcgee has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Allen tries to roll out but it's too tight and Allen has to tap! Slick submission there by Mcgee!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nico Mcgee!
