The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Cervoni sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Jones looks to land a combination but Cervoni avoids it well.

Cervoni can't escape the position.
Cervoni sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cervoni lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Jones tries for a takedown but Cervoni sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Joey Cervoni has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Jones.

Cervoni closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That was a close round but I would say that Joey Cervoni will probably get the nod.

Jones looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cervoni with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Cervoni makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cervoni.
