Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerome Carmont!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ruben Smith!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carmont bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Smith takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Carmont uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Smith has time to react.
Carmont dodges the punch combination from Smith.
Smith takes a swing at Carmont's ribcage but misses.
Carmont lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Carmont closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Carmont can't get the takedown.
Carmont wants the takedown. Smith is fighting it off but Carmont persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Smith's guard against the cage.
Carmont throws a big right hand that misses.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carmont slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Carmont lands a nice forearm strike.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Carmont lands an elbow.
Smith dodges the ground and pound from Carmont.
Carmont tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Carmont working the ground and pound from side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Carmont fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Carmont grinds an elbow into Smith's temple.
Carmont cracks Smith with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Carmont immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Smith is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Carmont!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jerome Carmont!
