Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nolan Diaz (ranked 3037 p4p, 5332 weight class) and Jeremy Cross (ranked 314 p4p, 437 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nolan Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Cross! The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Topper Green and Steve Erwin.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cross smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Diaz fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Cross scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Diaz closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Cross connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Cross lands a right hook to the body.
A lazy left from Cross finds it's target. Cross will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Cross cracks Diaz with an open hand slap. Cross scores with a nice body kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cross digs a good hook to Diaz's body.
Cross pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Diaz back to the cage. Cross follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. A punch combination from Cross misses. Cross lands a nice looking body shot.
Cross dives in for a single leg takedown but Diaz sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Diaz tries to counter with a takedown but Cross is quick to defend against it. Cross connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Left hook, right uppercut from Cross. Cross misses with a hook.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz drops his hands momentarily and Cross takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Nice jab there from Cross. Cross sizes up Diaz with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Cross cracks Diaz with a right hand to the side of the head. Jeremy Cross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cross dips to his left and cracks Diaz with an uppercut! Cross looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Diaz is fending him off so far but Cross persists. Nope, Diaz circles away and we're back to standing. Diaz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cross connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cross pinned against the cage. Cross gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Diaz takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Diaz on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Good exchange - Cross coming out on top. Cross uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Nice shot lands for Cross. Diaz looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Cross connects with a crisp jab. Cross throws out a powerful jab. Cross fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Cross lands a nice shot to the body.
Cross wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. A jab lands there for Cross. A slapping leg kick lands for Cross.
Cross lands a nice shot that snaps Diaz's head back.
Cross connects with an inside leg kick. Nice shot by Cross. Cross fails with the takedown. Nolan Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Cross.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Cross fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Diaz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Cross cracks a nice hook into Diaz's ribs. Cross looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Cross scores with a nice right hand.
Cross throws a head kick that misses
and Diaz counters with a takedown into side control. Sloppy strikes there by Diaz. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz lands a nice forearm strike. A lull in the action here.
Diaz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cross knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Diaz throwing shots but missing, from side control. We've been informed that Cross has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Diaz has an Americana. Cross didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Diaz is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Diaz hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Nolan Diaz!
