Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Spring (ranked 1676 p4p, 1605 weight class) and Mike Hanson (ranked 147 p4p, 144 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Spring! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Hanson! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A low kick from Hanson is predictable there and Spring counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hanson thinking. Hanson tries to bum rush Spring with a series of wild strikes but Spring uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Spring misses with a body shot.
Hanson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Spring counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Hanson misses with a double jab
and Spring counters with a right hand to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hanson jabs Spring to the body, keeping him at a distance. Spring dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hanson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Hanson throws a combination that misses and Spring connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hanson misses with the body kick and Spring counters with a nice uppercut. Hanson connects with a solid leg kick. Hanson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Spring's sensitive parts. Mike Hanson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Marcus Spring is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Spring throws a body shot but no joy.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marcus Spring. Well Spring has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
