This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 2 losses; Otto Kolan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Ken FrownFelter!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Wesley Smith.


Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?

Kolan clinches up against the cage.
Kolan goes for a takedown in the clinch but FrownFelter prevents it.
Kolan fails to pull the fight into his guard.

FrownFelter manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

FrownFelter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kolan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kolan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

FrownFelter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kolan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

FrownFelter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kolan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. FrownFelter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kolan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kolan passes into half guard.

Kolan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, FrownFelter has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kolan passes the guard and advances to mount!

Kolan wants to take FrownFelter's back but he can't do it this time.
FrownFelter felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Kolan jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but FrownFelter manages to avoid the submission attempt.
FrownFelter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kolan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kolan tries for a kimura but FrownFelter is defending well.

Kolan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kolan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kolan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
FrownFelter prevents Kolan from improving position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
FrownFelter holds on to Kolan's head and controls the position momentarily.
FrownFelter sneaks back into half guard.

Kolan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
FrownFelter tries to roll over but Kolan keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

FrownFelter looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Kolan moves nicely into side control.

You can see the frustration on FrownFelter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
FrownFelter manages to get back to half guard.
Kolan is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Kolan forces the positional change into back control.

Kolan working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. FrownFelter is doing well to defend. Kolan seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! FrownFelter is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Otto Kolan!
A relieved looking Otto Kolan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Ken FrownFelter was interviewed post fight and said 'I had COVID'.
