Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nate Marquardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marquardt comes to the cage accompanied by O Fortuna. Smith is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enter Sandman. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a series of punches but Marquardt avoids them all with ease.
Smith throws a left that rocks Marquardt and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Smith dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Marquardt regain composure!
Marquardt is rocked!
It looks like Nate Marquardt has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Marquardt on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Smith thows a body shot but no joy.
Marquardt walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Smith checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Smith catches Marquardt with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Marquardt uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith.
Smith comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Marquardt moves away from the strike by Smith.
Smith misses the shot to the body.
Marquardt slips a jab from Smith.
Marquardt tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range.
Smith connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Smith leaves Marquardt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Oooh a lovely combination from Smith sends Marquardt down but not out. Smith dives into side control looking to finish.

Marquardt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.

Marquardt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Smith looks up at the clock and then as Marquardt takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Smith smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Marquardt walks into a stiff left hand from Smith.
Marquardt fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Marquardt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
Marquardt doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A jab-cross combination lands for Smith and sends Marquardt crashing to the mat! Smith follows him down to the mat - Marquardt regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Smith is trying to control. Marquardt wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Smith winds up and cracks Marquardt with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marquardt is looking to get back to full guard here but Smith has managed to pass to side control instead.

Smith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marquardt is looking to escape.

Despite being in the dominant position, Dan Smith just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nice combo by Smith! Oh, that's hurt him - Marquardt falls to the canvas and Smith follows him into side control.
Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marquardt keeps working.
Smith creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Smith scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Marquardt to see if he's OK.
Dan Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.

Marquardt is pushing Smith's head away, looking to escape. Smith manages to hold on to the position though.
Smith has hold of Marquardt's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Marquardt seems comfortable defending it but Smith has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Marquardt is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Marquardt is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Smith couldn't care less - he's delighted!
