Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ed Soma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raimo Vassari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raimo Vassari has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ed Soma! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raimo Vassari! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vassari fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vassari bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Vassari throwing shots but missing, from side control. Vassari throwing shots but missing, from side control. Vassari tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Vassari has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Soma wants to get back to his feet. Soma struggling a bit here. Vassari working the ground and pound. Soma is not content to let Vassari control the position. Vassari connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Soma some visible discomfort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vassari postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The strikes coming from Vassari are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Vassari misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Vassari tries to advance to mount but Soma denies him. Vassari is looking to take a break and control but Soma is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Vassari is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Soma knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Soma is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Soma taking punishment in the form of punches.

Soma on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Soma tries to get out of the position. Soma won't allow Vassari to pass to mount. Soma is looking to escape. Vassari lands with a punch from half guard. Soma knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vassari on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vassari thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Soma's head. Soma regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Vassari. Soma avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Soma utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Soma is looking to stand up but Vassari isn't so interested in that idea. Vassari throws a big right hand that misses. Vassari slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Vassari lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Soma down.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Vassari trying to control the action but Soma is working from the bottom. Vassari fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Soma wants to get back to his feet but Vassari drags him back down. Soma is not content to let Vassari control the position. Vassari landing strikes. Soma gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raimo Vassari dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Vassari shoots in looking for a takedown. Soma tries to sprawl out of it but Vassari keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Soma manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Soma lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Soma.

Soma tries to sprawl out of it but Vassari keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Soma manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Soma misses with a low kick as Vassari jumps back. Vassari darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Soma is looking to control Vassari's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Soma avoid being mounted? Soma blocking the ground and pound attempt from Vassari.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vassari throws a strike but Soma avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Vassari missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Vassari throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Soma works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Vassari working some strikes from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vassari with a flurry of punches that miss. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vassari's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Vassari trying to control but Soma is working from the bottom. Vassari postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Soma wants to get back to his feet but Vassari is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Vassari throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Soma works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Soma wants to stand up but Vassari is controlling him. Vassari loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Vassari throwing strikes from guard but Soma blocks nicely. Vassari is looking to work some ground and pound but Soma has wrist control.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Soma misses with a jab, cross combination.
Soma gets a clinch. Soma trying to stall but Vassari improves his position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Soma lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Vassari tries to pull guard but Soma holds him up against the cage and eventually Vassari drops back down to his feet.
Ed Soma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raimo Vassari. Vassari pulls guard successfully.
Vassari looking for a guillotine here but Soma defends easily.
Soma would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vassari wants to sweep but no luck. Soma postures up.
Vassari has a closed guard, preventing Soma from standing up. Vassari escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Soma gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Vassari wants to sweep here but Soma controlling him for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Vassari is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Soma defends well. Vassari looking to control.
Vassari has a closed guard, preventing Soma from standing up. Vassari keeping full guard, as Soma tries to pass. Vassari manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Raimo Vassari showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Raimo Vassari's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Vassari shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Soma pinned against the cage. Soma gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A big right from Soma misses. Soma swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Raimo Vassari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vassari showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Soma.
Soma missing with a left hand there. Vassari was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Soma takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Soma throws a hook to the side of Vassari's head but Vassari sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Vassari has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vassari there as he acknowledges the shot. Soma throws a hook but Vassari blocks it. A punch combination from Vassari misses. Soma bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vassari bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Vassari working the body and head with strikes. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Vassari creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Soma sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Soma is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Vassari is controlling him well. Soma parries the strikes from Vassari easily there. Vassari is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Soma to escape.
Vassari is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Soma looks calm but he's in trouble here. Vassari gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Soma is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Vassari lets go of the hold and Soma can pop his arm back in it's socket.
