Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Shimmer (ranked 2908 p4p, 3972 weight class) and Paval Petrovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Stephen Shimmer has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Stephen Shimmer seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Stephen Shimmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paval Petrovic!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimmer wants to clinch up but Petrovic keeps it at a distance.
Petrovic lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Petrovic.
It looks like Stephen Shimmer has been cut.
Petrovic connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Petrovic misses with a head kick.
Petrovic smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Shimmer is rocked!
Shimmer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Petrovic lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Oh Shimmer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shimmer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Petrovic pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Shimmer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Petrovic throws a head kick that misses.
Shimmer half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Shimmer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Petrovic paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Shimmer gets caught napping as Petrovic dives in and scores a takedown. Shimmer manages to retain guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Petrovic wants to control from the top but Shimmer keeps moving.
Shimmer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Petrovic scoring with some ground and pound.
Petrovic working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Shimmer's head.
Petrovic stands up over Shimmer, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Petrovic postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Shimmer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Shimmer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Petrovic controls the pace.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Paval Petrovic will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Stephen Shimmer's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Petrovic lands a left and a right that send Shimmer crashing to the mat, dazed. Petrovic thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Shimmer moves into the clinch.
Petrovic wants to get back to striking at distance but Shimmer won't allow it.

Shimmer is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Petrovic's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Petrovic throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shimmer.
Petrovic avoids the body shot from Shimmer.
Shimmer throws the left hand but Petrovic avoids the punch easily.
Petrovic keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Petrovic avoids the head kick by Shimmer.
Shimmer get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Shimmer stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Petrovic runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
