This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 16 wins and 10 losses; Striped Marlin! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 10 losses; Jack Williams! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Marlin darts in looking for a takedown but Williams gets double underhooks and turns Marlin into the cage.
Williams has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Marlin regains guard immediately. Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Marlin is retaining full guard. Marlin can't keep his opponent in guard - Williams advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Marlin is trying to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Williams looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
