PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Noriyoshi Miyagi (ranked 5266 p4p, 26020 weight class) and Great Teradur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miyagi's entrance music is Miyagi-Do. A fine choice. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Noriyoshi Miyagi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Great Teradur!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miyagi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Teradur keeps the fight on the outside.
Miyagi lands with a kick to the ribs.
Miyagi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Miyagi dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Teradur. That did some damage!
Miyagi throws a quick inside leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miyagi tries to land a front kick but Teradur steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Teradur counters with a body kick.
Teradur tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Miyagi connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Miyagi is looking to clinch but Teradur is avoiding it.
Teradur follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Miyagi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Teradur replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Miyagi blocks it well.
Miyagi connects with a high kick.
Miyagi throws a lazy head kick

and Teradur decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Miyagi's guard.
Teradur controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Teradur stands up and waves to Miyagi to follow him.
Miyagi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Miyagi misses with a low kick.
Teradur avoids the head kick by Miyagi.
Teradur counters with a body kick.
Miyagi throws a leg kick

and Teradur counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Miyagi!

Teradur content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Miyagi tries to buck Teradur off but Teradur is having none of it.
Miyagi is being controlled here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Miyagi tries to bench press Teradur off him but Teradur keeps the position.
Miyagi seems a little lost for a moment, as Teradur dominates the positioning.
Miyagi can't do much from the bottom here.
Teradur is staying tight to Miyagi's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miyagi fails to land the takedown.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Noriyoshi Miyagi dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Teradur drives through with a takedown into Miyagi's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Miyagi is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Teradur dives into side control.

Miyagi is looking to regain half guard here but Teradur keeps moving and retains side control.
Teradur happy to just control the position for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
You can see the frustration on Miyagi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Miyagi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee asks Teradur politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Teradur prefers to stall for the moment though.

Teradur lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Teradur in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Miyagi is looking to reverse the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Teradur blocks a head kick by Miyagi.
Teradur looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Teradur showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Miyagi.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Teradur checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
And Teradur responds with a good body kick, but Miyagi manages to step out the way in time.
Teradur avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Miyagi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Teradur shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Miyagi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Miyagi wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Teradur manages to pass to side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Great Teradur showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The referee asks Teradur politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Teradur prefers to stall for the moment though.

Teradur is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Miyagi will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Teradur cracks Miyagi with a big elbow.
Teradur is staying tight to Miyagi's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Teradur's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Miyagi misses with a low kick.
Noriyoshi Miyagi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miyagi lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Noriyoshi Miyagi is winning the standup battle so far.

Teradur closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Miyagi to the mat! Miyagi manages to get full guard.
Miyagi is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Teradur dives into side control.

Teradur takes a little break here. Miyagi wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Teradur is continuing to stall.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Great Teradur comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Teradur has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
