Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Griggs (ranked 2150 p4p, 2060 weight class) and Juan Alro (ranked 224 p4p, 218 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Griggs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Alro! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griggs smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Griggs digs a good hook to Alro's body.
Alro goes for a double leg but Griggs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Griggs continues to drive forward. A little feinted left hand from Griggs on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Alro fails to land the takedown. Alro jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Alro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Alro throwing strikes but missing. Alro is looking to pass into half guard but Griggs pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Griggs is in guard.

Griggs decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Griggs slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Griggs lands with a good body shot. Alro doesn't manage to clinch there - Griggs circles away.
Alro takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Griggs swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Griggs slips under a jab from Alro. Griggs scores with a jab. Alro acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Alro takes a body punch but keeps moving. Alro tries to clinch up.
Alro closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Griggs did well to prevent Alro getting side control. Griggs tries to kick Alro off but Alro keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Alro lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Alro is just content to waste time from the top position. Griggs takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Alro is looking to work some ground and pound but Griggs has wrist control. Griggs wants to stand and escape but Alro is having none of it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alro throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Alro is looking to work some ground and pound but Griggs has wrist control. Alro trying to control but Griggs is working from the bottom.  The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Alro scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Griggs takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Griggs looks to land a combination. Alro sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Alro darts in and clinches Griggs up against the cage. Griggs blocks an elbow strike. Griggs has had enough of the clinch but Alro keeps him there for the moment.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Alro throws an elbow but it misses.

Griggs wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Alro gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
 It looks like Frank Griggs has been cut. Alro scores a nice knee to the body.
Alro tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Griggs avoids it. Griggs blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Griggs on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Alro tries for a takedown. No joy.
Frank Griggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Alro. Alro has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Griggs avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Alro keeps control of Griggs as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Griggs tries to break free but Alro pushes him back against the cage. Alro jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Griggs walks away with a smile on his face. Alro gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Alro tries to clinch up. Griggs scores with a one two! Alro had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Left hook, right uppercut from Griggs.
 Alro is rocked!
 It looks like Juan Alro has been cut. Griggs looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Griggs ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Griggs digs a good hook to Alro's body.

Alro is still on wobbly legs! Can Griggs finish him? Griggs lunges at Alro with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Alro's hand. Griggs moves out of range of the strikes. Juan Alro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Griggs tests Alro's chin there with a solid looking shot. Alro gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Frank Griggs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Alro misses with a few strikes there.
Oooooh!!! Griggs has knocked Alro down with a huge combo! Griggs steps away and waves a wobbly Alro back to his feet! This one might not go much longer! Griggs is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. It's a brutal combination of punches from Griggs! Alro is backing up but he can't get away as Griggs lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Alro and ends the fight. Great knockout.
