Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Jimenez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Asskren!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jimenez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jimenez tries to clinch but Asskren is having none of it.
Jimenez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Asskren to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Asskren chips away with some ground and pound.
Jimenez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Asskren on the ground.
Asskren sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jimenez's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Asskren controlling the pace.
Jimenez won't allow Asskren to pass to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Asskren in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Jimenez tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Asskren!
