PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Helen Salvacion (ranked 23507 p4p, 23277 weight class) and Kugus Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 60 - 77 - 11, fighting out of Las Vegas, Helen Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 71 - 67 - 8, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kugus Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion shoots in for a double leg but Amiga sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A countering left hand to the body from Amiga misses.

Amiga gets the takedown into side control.
Amiga working away.
Amiga is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Salvacion's shoulder. That is not cool.
Salvacion is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The strikes coming from Amiga are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Salvacion being controlled for a moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
You can see the frustration on Salvacion's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amiga on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Amiga shoots for a takedown but Salvacion saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Amiga shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Salvacion defends it nicely.
Salvacion thinks about countering with a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga fails with the takedown.
And Salvacion counters with a quick kick to the body but Amiga blocks it.
Helen Salvacion has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kugus Amiga.
Salvacion closes the distance and clinches up with Amiga, looking for a takedown. Salvacion pushes Amiga against the cage but Amiga circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Amiga is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Salvacion will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Salvacion controlling the position.
Amiga controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Amiga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Salvacion swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kugus Amiga dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Salvacion shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Amiga is refusing to be controlled, as Salvacion sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Amiga is holding on to half guard well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion with the ground and pound but Amiga uses the opportunity to regain guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Amiga is trying to keep Salvacion in close.
Amiga looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Salvacion controlling from the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Amiga looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Salvacion looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga sitting in guard here, content to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salvacion pulls Amiga in to control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Helen Salvacion will probably get the nod.
That's time! Salvacion's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Amiga is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Salvacion's half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Amiga looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Amiga not doing much here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Amiga throwing shots but Salvacion is blocking nicely.
Salvacion is trying to stand.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Still in half guard, Amiga seems content to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Salvacion defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Amiga.
Salvacion is looking to counter with a body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salvacion throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Amiga's waist but Amiga gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Salvacion off to one side.

Salvacion shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Amiga manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Amiga is controlling Salvacion's posture.
Salvacion trying to control but Amiga is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga looking for a sweep. Not yet Amiga, not yet.
Salvacion controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Amiga looking to hit a scissor sweep but Salvacion is one step ahead there.
Salvacion not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Amiga seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Amiga looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Salvacion is fending him off so far but Amiga persists. Nope, Salvacion circles away and we're back to standing.

Amiga shoots in looking for a takedown. Salvacion tries to sprawl out of it but Amiga keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Salvacion manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
It appears Salvacion was looking to counter with a kick there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kugus Amiga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Amiga has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
