Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cedric Reed (ranked 4036 p4p, 4099 weight class) and Andres Volkan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cedric Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andres Volkan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkan throws a front kick that sends Reed stumbling back into the cage.
Volkan throws a head kick that half lands.

It looks like Cedric Reed has been cut.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Reed is defended easily by Volkan.

Volkan takes the fight into the clinch.

Volkan jumps guard and drags Reed to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed preventing the sweep.
Reed is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Reed with a flurry of punches that miss.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Volkan avoids a punch combination nicely.

Volkan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Reed sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Volkan lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Volkan closes the distance and clinches up with Reed, looking for a takedown. Volkan pushes Reed against the cage but Reed circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Volkan keeps Reed at a distance using the push kick.

Volkan feints and as Reed raises his hands in defense, Volkan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Reed keeping moving, preventing Volkan from controlling successfully.
Reed is looking to stand up but Volkan isn't so interested in that idea.
Volkan stands up over Reed, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Volkan trying to control the position from guard on top but Reed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Reed keeping moving, preventing Volkan from controlling successfully.
Reed pulls Volkan in close to his closed guard and prevents Volkan from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Volkan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Reed looks like he's trying to stand up.
Volkan seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Reed is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Volkan pulls his head out easily.
Reed wants to improve his position but Volkan is controlling well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Reed keeps the fight on the outside.
Reed throwing a counter right hand but Volkan manages to avoid it.

Volkan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Reed controls from within his opponent's guard.
Volkan wants to get back to his feet but Reed passes into half guard.

Volkan is defending against the submission attempts here by Reed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed tries to stand and escape but Volkan is controlling the position.

Volkan wants to get back to his feet.

Reed is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Volkan is just riding it out for now. Reed eventually gives up the hold.
Reed passes into side control, despite Volkan's attempt to control the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Reed working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Reed staying calm.
Volkan manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Volkan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Reed.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reed keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Reed is thwarting Volkan's attempts to control the position.
Reed controlling the pace.
Cedric Reed overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Reed throwing shots but Volkan is blocking nicely.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Reed tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Volkan wants to counter the offense by Reed and move into the clinch position.
Reed leaves Volkan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Reed dives in and grabs Volkan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Volkan pushes down on Reed's head and hops out.

Reed feints and as Volkan raises his hands in defense, Reed changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Volkan wants to control the position but Reed says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Volkan looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reed sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reed seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Volkan for as long as he can get away with.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and Volkan counters with a three punch combo that has Reed backing up. Reed nods at Volkan to acknowledge the strikes.
Volkan dives in for a single leg takedown but Reed sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Reed feints and as Volkan raises his hands in defense, Reed changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Volkan controls Reed momentarily but Reed frees himself.

Reed is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Reed postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Volkan trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Reed is stalling in the full guard.
Reed works over Volkan with some ground and pound from guard.
Volkan tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Reed gets caught napping as Volkan dives in and scores a takedown. Reed manages to retain guard.
Reed seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Reed escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Volkan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Reed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Reed is adopting a defensive guard.
Reed continues to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reed will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Reed is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Reed on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Reed tries to get out of the position.
Reed is pulling down on Volkan's head. It's preventing any offense from Volkan, at least for the moment.
Reed striking off his back but it's not causing Volkan any problems.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Reed throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Reed is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
More hug and hope from Reed.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Volkan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Volkan darts in and clinches Reed up against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cedric Reed.
I think Reed has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
