Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jaylan Spence (ranked 4001 p4p, 5254 weight class) and Ethan Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaylan Spence had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaylan Spence! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ethan Rush! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush feints and as Spence raises his hands in defense, Rush changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Spence has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Rush has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Rush lands a good knee to the midsection. Spence won't want to take too many of those.
Rush gets a trip takedown into half guard. Spence really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! It looks like Rush is going to stand back up.
Rush is keen to just control but Spence is a slippery customer.
Rush is trying to work for a kimura but Spence is defending well.
Rush seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Spence is looking to improve his position.
Rush lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Rush decides to stand and escape the position. Spence fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rush fails to land with a series of punches.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rush. Spence is looking to counter with head kicks.
Rush has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rush manages to break the clinch.
Rush shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Rush must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Spence looking to control.
Rush is in close to Spence's body, working some short punches and elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rush working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Spence's head. Rush wants to control from the top but Spence keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Spence working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rush doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rush manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Spence keeping moving, preventing Rush from controlling successfully. Rush postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rush stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spence swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rush wants to stand but Spence is controlling his posture from full guard. Rush wants to control from the top but Spence keeps moving.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Rush dives in and grabs Spence's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spence pushes down on Rush's head and hops out. Spence shoots in but no luck this time. Rush throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rush closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Rush scores a nice knee to the body.
Rush's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ethan Rush dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Spence is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rush sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Spence tries to keep at a distance but Rush has taken the fight into the clinch. Spence is looking for a takedown. Spence jumps guard but Rush stands there with Spence around his waist. Spence gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jaylan Spence. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spence goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rush prevents it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rush chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Spence swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rush raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Rush wants to get up but he can't break Spence's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Rush trying to control the position from guard on top but Spence is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rush has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Spence looking for a sweep. Not yet Spence, not yet. Rush wants to control from the top but Spence keeps moving. Rush is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Rush landing with the ground and pound.
Rush gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rush clinches up with Spence and pushes him back against the cage.
Rush jumps into guard, dragging Spence to the mat.
Spence stands and steps away. Rush gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Spence with a poor takedown
and Rush counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rush escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Spence gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rush keeping moving, preventing Spence from controlling successfully.

Rush wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Rush controls Spence momentarily but Spence frees himself.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rush working a defensive guard here.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Spence slaps away a takedown attempt from Rush, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Rush. Spence tries to get back to half guard but can't. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Spence is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rush has just dragged him back down to the mat. Rush tries to stand but Spence is controlling his head. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ethan Rush showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Spence clinches up against the cage.
Rush breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rush throws a nice looking combination but Spence bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rush closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Spence to the mat! Spence manages to get full guard.
Spence pushes Rush off and scrambles back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rush decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Spence wants to get back to his feet.
Rush tries to pass the half guard into mount. Spence knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Rush decides to stand up. No joy there for Rush, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Spence is looking to counter with head kicks.
Spence shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rush napping and manages to drive through into side control! Rush tries to improve position but can't. Rush really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spence. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rush wants to get back to his feet but Spence drags him back down.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Spence in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Rush can't do much from the bottom here. Spence wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rush keeps working. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Rush is looking to regain half guard here but Spence keeps moving and retains side control.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Rush fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Spence shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Spence gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rush to score an easy takedown into full guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Rush tries to stand but Spence is controlling from the bottom. Rush trying to control but Spence is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jaylan Spence has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ethan Rush is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Ethan Rush. Well Rush has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
