Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Archie Drury (ranked 4978 p4p, 3991 weight class) and Jax Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Archie Drury! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jax Lawson! The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Ben Hemmingworth and Bruno Hogan.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drury throws a right and a left that both miss. Lawson wants to counter the offense by Drury and move into the clinch position. Lawson stuffs the takedown attempt from Drury. Drury gets slowly back to his feet. Drury lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Drury is looking to clinch but Lawson is avoiding it.

Lawson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Drury throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lawson looking to score a takedown here. Drury is defending well but Lawson drives through and ends up in Drury's guard. Drury working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lawson. Lawson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Drury is keeping the position for now. Drury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Drury pulls Lawson in to control the position. Drury looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lawson is one step ahead there. Lawson sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Drury manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lawson manages to get himself to full guard.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Drury pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lawson is keeping the position for now. Drury trying to control but Lawson is working from the bottom. Lawson wants to sweep here but Drury controlling him for the moment. Lawson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lawson is on top in guard.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Drury looking to control.
Lawson trying to control the position from guard on top but Drury is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lawson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Drury looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lawson is one step ahead there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Drury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Drury misses with a two punch combination.

and Drury counters by moving into the clinch.

Drury is breathing heavily. Lawson is looking to stand up but Drury won't let him. Drury is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Drury is working an open guard so Lawson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Archie Drury dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Lawson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Drury tries to avoid it but Lawson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Drury to the ground. Drury escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Lawson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Drury. Lawson is looking to clinch but Drury is avoiding it.

Lawson clinches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Archie Drury overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Drury is trying to control the position but Lawson postures up. Drury wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Drury bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lawson's guard.
 Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Lawson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lawson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Drury regains full guard. Nicely done. Lawson trying to control but Drury is working from the bottom. Lawson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Lawson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Drury not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lawson throwing strikes but missing. Lawson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Lawson stops Drury from standing up. Drury striking off his back but it's not causing Lawson any problems. Drury is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lawson can do to turn this around?

Drury is looking to counter the offense by Lawson and move into the clinch. Archie Drury has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jax Lawson. Lawson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Drury looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Lawson checks a leg kick nicely. Drury stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Drury wants it to stay on the feet. Lawson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Drury half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Lawson circles away from the clinch attempt and Lawson counters with a left and a right that stings Drury. Archie Drury seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A thudding body kick lands there by Drury!

Drury manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lawson on his heels. He'll look to pass Lawson's guard now, I'm sure. Lawson wants to get back to his feet but Drury passes into half guard.
 Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Drury is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lawson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Drury. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lawson is trying to stand up here but Drury is controlling him well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Drury tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Lawson is able to avoid easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lawson wants it to stay on the feet. Drury leaves Lawson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Archie Drury is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Drury tries to move into range but Lawson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Drury fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Lawson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Lawson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lawson lands in his opponent's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Lawson lands a couple of elbows.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Lawson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Drury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lawson prevents Drury from getting back to his feet. Drury keeping moving, preventing Lawson from controlling successfully. Drury has a closed guard, preventing Lawson from standing up. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Drury thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Drury misses with a double jab.
Horrible takedown attempt by Lawson or perhaps it was just good defense by Drury, which made it look bad. A slapping leg kick lands for Drury.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lawson is looking to clinch. Drury fails with a takedown attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Archie Drury showed his dominance in that final round. Well Drury has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
