PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scipio Africanus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Syd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Syd is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Poisen. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Syd misses with a double jab.
Africanus plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Syd shoots in for a takedown but Africanus shows good takedown defense.
Africanus moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Scipio Africanus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Africanus lands a nice looking body kick.
Africanus lands with a thumping leg kick.
Syd misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Africanus lands a nice leg kick that just misses Syd's sensitive parts.
Africanus dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Syd. That did some damage!
Africanus goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Syd looks gassed!
Syd sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Syd stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Africanus.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Africanus.

Africanus comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Africanus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Good leg kick by Africanus there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Africanus - that will leave a mark!
Africanus feints and then cracks Syd's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Syd down.

Africanus throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Syd.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Africanus lets loose with a powerful body kick. Syd will feel that in the morning.
Syd walks forward, straight into a front kick from Africanus.
Africanus works Syd's body with a nice hook.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Syd crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Africanus - the referee stops the clock and Syd gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Africanus. Syd manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Oooh a lovely combination from Africanus sends Syd down but not out. Africanus dives into side control looking to finish.

Syd is rocked!

Africanus decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Syd is still on wobbly legs! Can Africanus finish him?

A head kick by Africanus - that's a beauty! Syd is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Africanus can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
