PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zombie Lee (ranked 874 p4p, 1446 weight class) and Kyle Bush (ranked 72 p4p, 114 weight class). Bush has chosen Soemthing in the way as his entrance music. Zombie Lee had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zombie Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kyle Bush!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bush replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Lee blocks it well.
We've been told by Lee's head coaches at Kaptajnernes Træningscenter that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Lee throws a body shot but no joy.
A swing and a miss from Lee.
Bush's coach down at Xtreme Fighting Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Bush's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Lee fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Bush looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Bush is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lee doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bush.

Lee is controlling Bush's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Bush not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Lee manages to get to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bush accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bush is one step ahead there.
Bush has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bush throws a strike but Lee rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bush pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage.
Bush can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lee controls the pace.
Lee has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Lee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lee scores with a one two! Bush had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
A big left from Lee misses.
Bush with the counter takedown but Lee avoids it easily.
Lee leaves Bush with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Zombie Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Bush counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bush is fighting to break Lee's control of his arms but Lee is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Lee is looking to wear down Bush with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Bush tries for a takedown but Lee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bush can do to turn this around?
Bush fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lee avoids it really well and circles away.
A little feinted left hand from Lee on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Lee throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bush misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Zombie Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Bush.
Lee digs a good body shot into Bush's ribs.

Lee sets himself, and Bush steps forward looking for the clinch! Lee avoids it this time.

Lee throws a right hand that Bush ducks under and follows up with a left that Bush also avoids with ease.

Bush doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lee connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lee swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Lee has hold of Bush's hands but Bush slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Bush wants to control but Lee is keeping him busy.
Lee manages to get to full guard.
Lee is pulling down on Bush's head to control his posture.

Bush postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lee is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bush, into his guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bush can't keep his opponent in guard - Lee advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lee is pressing down on Bush's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bush is holding on for now.
Zombie Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bush tries to roll over but Lee keeps him under control.
Lee is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Zombie Lee showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lee, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
