This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 10 losses; Mr Pervitin! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Gordon Ryan! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Anthony Taglia.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Pervitin closes the distance and clinches up with Ryan, looking for a takedown. Pervitin pushes Ryan against the cage but Ryan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pervitin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Pervitin (2) vs (0) Ryan Pervitin content to control rather than advance. Ryan trying to control but Pervitin postures up.
Pervitin keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Pervitin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. We've been hearing that Pervitin has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Ryan is looking to control Pervitin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ryan avoid being mounted?

Ryan tries to get to full guard but Pervitin has control of the leg. Pervitin is figuring out what he wants to do next. Pervitin working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Ryan's thigh. Ryan counters though and makes it back to full guard. Pervitin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Pervitin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ryan wants to sweep here but Pervitin controlling him for the moment. Pervitin forces his way into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pervitin not doing much here.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Pervitin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Still in half guard, Pervitin seems content to control. Ryan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Well, if Pervitin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight� I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza� Yum. Can't wait.
Pervitin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ryan for as long as he can get away with. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Pervitin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Ryan wants to control but Pervitin is keeping busy.
Pervitin with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Ryan wants to improve his position but Pervitin is controlling well.
Pervitin content to control rather than advance. The fighters are battling for position here. Ryan manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Ryan pulls Pervitin in close to his closed guard and prevents Pervitin from doing any damage or advancing position. Pervitin sitting in guard, not really doing much.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Ryan keeping full guard, as Pervitin tries to pass. Pervitin is stalling in the full guard. Pervitin works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ryan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pervitin not doing much here.
Pervitin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

 That's eight minutes gone in the round. This is a sustained period of stalling by Pervitin. Pervitin continues to stall. Ryan has given up his back - I don�t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Pervitin continues to hold on tight. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ryan tries to roll but Pervitin sticks to his back.
Ryan is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Pervitin.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Ryan tries to break free.
Pervitin just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Ryan is really stuck here.
Pervitin has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ryan's body.

 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Ryan looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Pervitin is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Ryan wants to escape the position.
Pervitin controlling the position well here. Ryan rolled but Pervitin kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Ryan is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Further stalling from Pervitin.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Ryan tries to escape but Pervitin has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Pervitin slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
You can see the frustration on Ryan's face� He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Pervitin passes Ryan's left leg - he's now in half guard. Pervitin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight! Pervitin takes the fight on points by 10 to 2. A relieved looking Mr Pervitin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
