Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Silvio Costa (ranked 4090 p4p, 25994 weight class) and Top Basketball (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Top Basketball told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Silvio Costa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Top Basketball! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa clinches.
Costa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Costa drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Costa is stalling in the full guard. Basketball really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Costa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Costa is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Basketball keeping full guard, as Costa tries to pass. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Costa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Costa keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Basketball's head. Costa makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Costa controls from within his opponent's guard. Costa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Costa has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Costa throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Costa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Basketball tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Costa is in Basketball's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Costa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Costa landing some decent shots from guard. Costa tries to free his leg and advance position but Basketball is retaining full guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa controlling from the top position. This is a sustained period of stalling by Costa. Costa seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Basketball for as long as he can get away with. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Costa landing with the ground and pound. Costa showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Costa gets to his feet. Basketball looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Silvio Costa dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Basketball gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Costa to score an easy takedown into full guard. Costa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Basketball can do to turn this around? Costa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Basketball swivels though and keeps the full guard. Basketball can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Costa controls the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Basketball flicks out a counter leg kick but Costa steps away.

Costa decides to pull guard. Costa pulls Basketball in close to prevent any damage. Silvio Costa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Costa throws a couple of heel strikes.
Costa tries to land a sweep but no joy. Costa managing to control the position.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa wants to stand but Basketball is controlling the position.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Costa manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Costa is on top in guard.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Costa passes Basketball's left leg - he's now in half guard. Well, if Costa is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight� I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza� Yum. Can't wait.
Costa works his foot free and advances to mount. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Silvio Costa dominated that second round. That's time! Costa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Costa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Basketball's guard. Costa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Costa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Costa forces his way into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Costa wants to free his trapped foot but Basketball is holding on for dear life with his legs. Costa tries to stand and escape but Basketball is controlling the position.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Costa is figuring out what he wants to do next. Costa's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Costa scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Costa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Basketball wants to control but Costa is keeping busy.
Basketball takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Costa stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Costa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Costa gets to his feet. Basketball looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Costa misses with the combination.
Basketball replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Costa blocks it well.
Costa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Costa is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Costa working some strikes from top position. Top Basketball has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Costa's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Costa stands up from Basketball's guard - Costa perhaps looking for a knockout. Silvio Costa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Costa pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Basketball looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
And that's the end of the fight! Silvio Costa showed his dominance in that final round. Well Costa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
