Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Walay Buut (ranked 23480 p4p, 23513 weight class) and Yawa Kiang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yawa Kiang has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Walay Buut's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 77 - 64 - 9, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 50 - 94 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Kiang bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buut is trying to improve his position.
Buut is trying to control Kiang's posture but Kiang avoids it.
Kiang in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Buut wants to control but Kiang postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Kiang controlling the position.
Buut struggling a bit here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kiang tries for a takedown but Buut sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A little feinted left hand from Buut on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Kiang looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Buut!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Buut can't do much from the bottom here.
Kiang is staying tight to Buut's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Buut is trying to control Kiang's posture but Kiang avoids it.
Buut being controlled for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buut is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kiang is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Buut's shoulder. That is not cool.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kiang tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Buut swivels and escapes.
Buut shoots in for a takedown but Kiang shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buut has a takedown stuffed.
And Kiang responds with a good body kick, but Buut manages to step out the way in time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yawa Kiang dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kiang.
Buut gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kiang counters with a three punch combo that has Buut backing up. Buut nods at Kiang to acknowledge the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Buut bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kiang explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Buut shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kiang but Kiang pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kiang shoots in looking for a takedown but Buut manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kiang's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Buut shoots in but no luck this time.
And Kiang responds with a good body kick, but Buut manages to step out the way in time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walay Buut. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Buut shoots in but Kiang avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kiang thinks about the counter body kick.

Buut fails with the takedown.
Kiang thinks about the counter body kick.

Buut thinks about countering with a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiang dives in and grabs Buut's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buut pushes down on Kiang's head and hops out.
Kiang looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Buut quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Kiang manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Buut on his heels. He'll look to pass Buut's guard now, I'm sure.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kiang looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Let's hope that Kiang has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Yawa Kiang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A momentary lapse in concentration from Kiang enables Buut to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kiang manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kiang wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Buut controls from within his opponent's guard.
Kiang is pulling down on Buut's head. It's preventing any offense from Buut, at least for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kiang is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kiang leaves Buut with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buut slaps away a takedown attempt from Kiang, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Buut throws a quick counter kick to the body but Kiang avoids it.

Kiang shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Buut's guard.
Buut is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Buut is working hard here to advance position.
Buut keeping moving, preventing Kiang from controlling successfully.
Buut pulls Kiang in close to his closed guard and prevents Kiang from doing any damage or advancing position.
Walay Buut has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Yawa Kiang is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Walay Buut.
Well Kiang has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
