PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Way Nada (ranked 23453 p4p, 23519 weight class) and Dawindi Buktot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 72 - 72 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 56 - 85 - 8, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Nada shoots in looking for a takedown. Buktot tries to sprawl out of it but Nada keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Buktot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nada defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Buktot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nada feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Nada is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Nada stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Buktot swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Buktot lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Buktot is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Buktot is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Buktot slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Buktot dives in for a single leg takedown but Nada sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Buktot takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nada shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nada showed some decent athleticism there.
Buktot is trying to control but can't.
Nada not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Buktot holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Buktot is concentrating on defense, preventing Nada from advancing position.

Well, if Nada is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight� I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza� Yum. Can't wait.
Nada's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Buktot fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Buktot slaps away a takedown attempt from Nada, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nada closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Buktot quickly recovers to half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Nada is taking a breather. Buktot says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Nada is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Buktot can do to turn this around?

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Buktot is trying to control but can't.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Buktot stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Buktot wants it to stay on the feet.
Nada shoots for a takedown but Buktot saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Buktot is looking for the big counter here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Way Nada. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nada pulls Buktot in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nada wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

Nada has his hands on Buktot's head, controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Buktot stuffs the takedown.
Buktot tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Nada gets caught napping as Buktot dives in and scores a takedown. Nada manages to retain guard.
Nada has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Dawindi Buktot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Way Nada is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
