Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Owen (ranked 2194 p4p, 2409 weight class) and Barry Redcola (ranked 245 p4p, 264 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Sam Owen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Redcola!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redcola throws the kick towards the body but Owen avoids it.
An inside leg kick from Owen misses.
Redcola slips under a jab from Owen.
Owen has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Forge 👊 in the buildup to the fight.
Redcola fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Redcola ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Owen moves away.
Owen throws a lazy head kick
and Redcola counters with a head kick.
Sam Owen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Owen tries to clinch
and Redcola counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Redcola blocks a head kick by Owen.
Redcola throws a big counter head kick but Owen avoids it with no problem.
Redcola connects with an inside leg kick.
Redcola misses with an uppercut. Owen saw that one coming.
Redcola keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Redcola lands with a thumping leg kick.

Owen throws an off balance right hand
and Owen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Owen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Owen misses with a jab, cross combination.

Owen pushes Redcola back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Owen misses with a punch on the inside.

Owen tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Redcola avoids it.
Redcola goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Redcola working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Redcola makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Redcola breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Owen tries to clinch but Redcola moves away
letting Redcola counter with a right hand.
Owen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Redcola scores with a counter punch that sends Owen to the canvas! Redcola smells blood - he's punishing Owen with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Owen has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Barry Redcola!
