PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dakota Reis (ranked 312 p4p, 1134 weight class) and Chike Obi (ranked 32 p4p, 120 weight class). Reis comes into the arena with Cree Prayer Song - Young Spirit blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dakota Reis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chike Obi!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reis displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Obi throws out the jab.
Reis has been working on his boxing with his coaches at League of Shadows MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Chike Obi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Obi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That kick from Reis tenderised Obi's leg. Obi is trying to keep his angry face on.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Reis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Obi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Obi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Obi crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Reis - the referee stops the clock and Obi gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Reis. Obi manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Obi's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Obi comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but Obi might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Reis has got the better of the exchanges.
