PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bugs Bunny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Spitler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bugs Bunny!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anderson Spitler!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bunny shoots for a takedown but Spitler saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bunny shoots in for a double leg but Spitler sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Spitler stuffs the takedown attempt from Bunny. Bunny gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bugs Bunny. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bunny shoots in for a takedown but Spitler shows good takedown defense.
Spitler gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Bunny decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Spitler's guard.
Bunny wants to stand but Spitler is controlling his posture from full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Spitler holds on and takes a little breather.

Spitler fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bunny sprawls well initially but Spitler persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Bunny decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Spitler's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bunny gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Spitler counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Spitler postures up.

Bunny escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Spitler gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spitler content to stall in guard here.

Spitler drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spitler jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spitler wants to control from the top but Bunny keeps moving.

Bunny has his foot on Spitler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Spitler works his way back into a safe position though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bunny is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Bunny thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Spitler's head.
Bunny not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Spitler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bunny is working away from the top position though.
Spitler is controlling Bunny's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Spitler is looking for a sweep. Bunny is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Spitler counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A close second round but Anderson Spitler will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Spitler lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bunny's sensitive parts.

Bunny bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bunny tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bunny has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bunny is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Spitler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Spitler gets back to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bunny is working for a submission of some sort.
Spitler is trying to maintain the position but Bunny is very close to passing his half guard.
Spitler gets back to full guard.
Bunny has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Anderson Spitler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Spitler has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
