Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Haruki Murakami!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Estevez!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Estevez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Estevez showed some decent athleticism there.
Estevez thows a huge punch but Murakami dodges it nicely.

Estevez is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Murakami has managed to free his arm - good work.

Estevez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Murakami sees it coming and defends easily.
Estevez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Estevez prevents Murakami from improving his position.
Murakami knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Estevez on the ground.
Estevez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Estevez wants to work for an arm triangle but Murakami is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Estevez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Estevez looks gassed!

Murakami kicks off Estevez and gets to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Murakami lands a head kick that stumbles Estevez and the fighters go to the mat.


Estevez is rocked!


It looks like Julio Estevez has been cut.

Murakami stands up from Estevez's guard - Murakami perhaps looking for a knockout.
Estevez is still on wobbly legs! Can Murakami finish him?
Murakami throws a sloppy head kick and Estevez moves out of range easily.
Murakami misses with a head kick.
Murakami throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Murakami steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Estevez is out on his feet! Murakami sets himself and nearly takes Estevez's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Haruki Murakami!
