Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Coach Chidios (ranked 3423 p4p, 4478 weight class) and Clark Zapata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zapata has chosen Alab ng Puso as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Clark Zapata was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Coach Chidios! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clark Zapata! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zapata shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chidios as he avoids it easily. Zapata throws a lazy right hand but Chidios sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Zapata is looking to clinch but Chidios is avoiding it.
Zapata tries to close the distance and clinch but Chidios swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Zapata chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Chidios can pounce on him.

Chidios went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Zapata wants to clinch and Chidios counters with a three punch combo that has Zapata backing up. Zapata nods at Chidios to acknowledge the strikes. That kick from Chidios tenderised Zapata's leg. Zapata is trying to keep his angry face on. Chidios keeps the fight on the outside. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight moves into the clinch position. A nice glancing elbow lands by Chidios. Zapata tries to break the clinch but Chidios is controlling the position.
Chidios breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Zapata tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Chidios manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Zapata pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chidios darts in and clinches Zapata up against the cage. Chidios lands an elbow that stopped Zapata in his tracks for a moment. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Zapata working aggressively here.

There ya go! There ya go! Zapata throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Chidios scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Chidios stops Zapata from standing up. Chidios bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Zapata looks winded! Zapata tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chidios paws at him with a jab and circles away. Chidios takes a swing at Zapata's ribcage but misses. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Zapata shoots in for a takedown but Chidios shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Zapata throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Zapata throws a right hand that Chidios ducks under and follows up with a left that Chidios also avoids with ease. As Zapata tries to get set, Chidios tries to push him back and clinch up but Zapata manages to avoid the attempt. Clark Zapata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chidios leaves Zapata with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Chidios is trying hard to land a takedown here. Zapata sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Chidios scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Zapata moves in looking to clinch but Chidios pushes him off. Zapata swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Chidios is looking for a counter combo. Coach Chidios has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clark Zapata. Zapata dives in for a single leg takedown but Chidios sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Zapata is breathing heavily. Chidios avoids the body shot from Zapata.

Zapata fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Chidios looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Zapata throws a wild combination but nothing lands. He's persisting with it as Chidios sprawls well. Chidios wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Zapata gets slowly back to his feet. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chidios looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Zapata with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Zapata wants to control but Chidios is keeping busy and won't allow it. Coach Chidios overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Zapata takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Chidios lands strikes from half guard. Chidios passes the guard and advances to mount! Chidios cracks Zapata with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Zapata is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Zapata wants to hold on but Chidios pushes him away.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Chidios with a couple of short strikes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chidios is in the full mount, landing strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chidios connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chidios lands a heavy elbow. Chidios in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
