The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kostakov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Johns.
Johns looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Johns fails to land with a series of punches.
Kostakov drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kostakov postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kostakov advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kostakov slips a nice elbow through Johns's hands, connecting with Johns's forehead.
Kostakov is nestled in close to Johns, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Johns is rocked!
Kostakov lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Johns quite badly. Johns pulls Kostakov in close trying to recover. Kostakov postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Johns on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Johns doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sergey Kostakov!
Sergey Kostakov was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
