Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Novikov (ranked 3412 p4p, 3193 weight class) and Leek Madeek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Madeek has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Leek Madeek is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ivan Novikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Leek Madeek!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madeek throws a head kick that misses.
Madeek looks winded!
A head kick misses from Novikov.
Nice takedown defense from Madeek. No joy for Novikov on that attempt.
Madeek leaves Novikov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A big left from Madeek misses.
Novikov finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Novikov shoots in looking for a takedown. Madeek tries to sprawl out of it but Novikov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Madeek manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Novikov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Novikov fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Madeek checks it well.
Novikov throws a shot from downtown. Madeek moves away and avoids it.
Madeek is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Novikov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Madeek napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Novikov has an Americana. Madeek didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Novikov is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Novikov hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ivan Novikov!
An out of breath Ivan Novikov thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
