Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinicius Zandonadi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Paul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vinicius Zandonadi! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zandonadi clinches up with Paul and pushes him back against the cage. Paul wants a takedown but no success here.
Paul wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Zandonadi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Zandonadi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Paul postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paul accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Zandonadi has control of Paul's left arm, preventing Paul from doing any damage. Paul trying to control the position from guard on top but Zandonadi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Paul won't allow Zandonadi to sweep him here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zandonadi managing to control the position. Zandonadi keeping moving, preventing Paul from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zandonadi wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Paul closes the distance looking to clinch and Zandonadi moves into the clinch. Paul tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Zandonadi breaks the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Paul. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Paul. That's going to take a lot out of him. Zandonadi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Paul pinned against the cage. Paul gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Paul shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Zandonadi counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Zandonadi landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Paul wants to control but Zandonadi is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zandonadi is looking to stall here but Paul recovers full guard. Zandonadi stopping the sweep attempt from Paul. Zandonadi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Paul is proving hard to escape from. Zandonadi sitting in guard, not really doing much. Paul is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paul controls Zandonadi momentarily but Zandonadi frees himself. Zandonadi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Zandonadi tries to free his leg and advance position but Paul is retaining full guard. Zandonadi throws a strike but Paul rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Zandonadi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paul. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Paul won't allow Zandonadi to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Zandonadi is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Zandonadi tries to land a sweep but no joy. Zandonadi wants to control but Paul passes easily into half guard.
Paul is trying to control. Zandonadi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Zandonadi tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Paul has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Zandonadi is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vinicius Zandonadi dominated that round. That's time! Paul's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Zandonadi lands a nice leg kick that just misses Paul's sensitive parts. Zandonadi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Zandonadi moves into the clinch. Paul stops a takedown attempt from Zandonadi.
Zandonadi looking for a takedown. John Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vinicius Zandonadi. Zandonadi pulls Paul into guard.
Zandonadi is trying to keep Paul in close.
Paul is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Paul stands up and waves to Zandonadi to follow him. Zandonadi tries to close the distance and clinch but Paul swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul darts in trying to clinch so Zandonadi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Zandonadi wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Paul's closed guard. He's half up but Paul has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Paul pivots and extends the arm, Zandonadi falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Paul! Well done that man!
