Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arturo Vargas!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vargas throws a shot from downtown. Shaw moves away and avoids it.
Shaw fails with a takedown attempt.
Shaw ducks under a wild hook from Vargas.
Shaw scoring well with a low kick there.
Shaw ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vargas moves away.
Vargas misses with a body shot.
Vargas throws a hook to the side of Shaw's head but Shaw sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vargas throws a hook but Shaw avoids it easily.
Vargas misses with an uppercut
and Shaw counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Vargas!
Vargas tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Vargas trying desperately to get to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaw wants to control the pace but Vargas is squirming around nicely.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Shaw cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
It looks like Arturo Vargas has been cut.
Shaw cracks Vargas with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Vargas is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Shaw lands a heavy elbow.
Vargas trying desperately to get to his feet.
Shaw landing strikes from the mount and Vargas is in trouble!
Vargas is rocked!
The cut above Arturo Vargas's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Arturo Vargas's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Brad Shaw!
After winning the bout, Brad Shaw thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
