And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 11 losses; Thomas Engine! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Man looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Engine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Engine in particular looking to stall.

Man is trying to get an arm triangle but Engine is defending well. Man is staying tight to Engine's torso, preventing him from escaping. You can see the frustration on Engine's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Man wants to sweep but no luck. Engine controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Engine works a leg free and moves into half guard. Engine content to control rather than advance. Engine is looking to advance position but Man won't allow it. Engine controlling the pace. Man is pressing down on Engine's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Engine sitting in guard here, content to control. Let's hope that Engine has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
