Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brijwanth J! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Perry! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! J throws a jab when Perry was well out of range. Perry throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. J was covering up waiting for the punch and Perry finishes the takedown easily into guard. Perry pushes down on J's leg and manages to get into half guard. Perry is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, J has managed to free his arm - good work. J tries to kick Perry off but Perry keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perry is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Perry working for a guillotine from mount but J is in no mood to give up. Perry moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, J has worked his arm free - good work by J!
Perry is trying to get an arm triangle but J is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. J is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Perry is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Perry thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. That's three minutes gone in the round. J is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Perry wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by J, who protects the arm well. Perry thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Perry goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, J has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Perry but great work by J. J has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Perry shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with J but J pushes him off and we're back to square one. Perry uses good head movement to avoid the hook from J. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Perry dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
J swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
J defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Perry. Nice sprawl there from J as Perry shoots in. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perry takes one on the chin but seems OK.
J misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perry dives in and grabs J's left leg, looking for a takedown. J pushes down on Perry's head and hops out. Brijwanth J has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Perry. J misses with the combination.
J works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. No luck for Perry with that takedown attempt. Perry feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Perry is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Perry is looking to advance position but J has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perry is in all sorts of trouble here.
J is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! J throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. J throws a jab when Perry was well out of range. Some wild striking there from J.
Perry darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brijwanth J dominated that second round. That's time! J's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Horrible takedown by Perry or perhaps it was just good defense by J which made him look bad. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice sprawl there from J as Perry shoots in.

Brijwanth J has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Perry. J takes a swing at Perry's ribcage but misses. J throws a body punch but Perry moves out of range. J lands with a shot to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Perry shoots in but J avoids the takedown attempt easily. J misses with an uppercut. Perry saw that one coming. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Perry.
That's three minutes gone in the round. J pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Perry shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as J sprawls well. J wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Perry gets slowly back to his feet. Jab from J.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perry feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Perry prevents J from getting back to his feet. Perry drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and J dives on top into guard. Perry is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that's the end of the fight! Brijwanth J showed his dominance in that final round. I think J has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
