The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miocic throws a poor cross that misses

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Furioto shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Miocic pushes Furioto off and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Miocic sends Furioto crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Miocic is motioning to the referee to let Furioto up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
That has opened up Maximus Furioto's cut even more.
Miocic is looking to slow Furioto down with leg kicks.
Furioto shoots in for a takedown but Miocic shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Miocic feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Furioto sprawling to the canvas! Furioto rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Miocic finish him?!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Furioto takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Miocic lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Furioto up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Miocic from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Furioto's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jon Miocic!
A relieved looking Jon Miocic thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Maximus Furioto had this to say: 'oohhh!nooooo!'.
