Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Vaughn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lake comes to the cage accompanied by Thanks For The Ride. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Lake! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricky Vaughn! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lake shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vaughn but Vaughn pushes him off and we're back to square one. Vaughn fails with the takedown and Lake counters with a shoot takedown. Vaughn fights it but they end up in guard. Lake wants to pass the guard but Vaughn is keeping the position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Vaughn holds on and takes a little breather. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vaughn is on top in guard.
Vaughn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lake has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vaughn has managed to get both his arms back between Lake's legs - danger averted. Lake looking for a guillotine here but Vaughn defends easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Vaughn with a poor takedown and Lake makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Vaughn wants to clinch and Lake counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Vaughn! Vaughn wants to control but Lake is having none of it. Vaughn is trying desperately to improve position. Lake avoids the attempt from Vaughn to control. Lake working for a guillotine from mount but Vaughn is in no mood to give up. Vaughn blocking the ground and pound. Lake is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vaughn can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Vaughn is desperately trying to improve his position but Lake has a good base and remains in mount. Lake dominating with strikes here. Vaughn is looking to improve his position but Lake isn't that keen on the idea. Lake scoring with strikes but Vaughn is staying in there. Vaughn really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Vaughn is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Lake looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Lake has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Vaughn's face.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vaughn bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Vaughn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lake is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vaughn is aware though and is defending well. Vaughn scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Vaughn wants to control from the top but Lake keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vaughn working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Lake working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vaughn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vaughn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Vaughn stays in close to Lake's body and controls the position. Vaughn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lake manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vaughn manages to get himself to full guard.

Vaughn doesn't succeed with the takedown and Lake decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vaughn's guard. Jackson Lake overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lake distracts Vaughn with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Vaughn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Vaughn throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Vaughn has control of Lake's left arm, preventing Lake from doing any damage. Lake working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Vaughn's head. Vaughn throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Vaughn misses with a takedown and Lake counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Vaughn! Vaughn is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lake wants to finish this one by submission but Vaughn is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lake. Lake has control of Vaughn's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vaughn regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Lake is going olschool here, as he tries to force Vaughn to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Vaughn shrugs it off. Vaughn landing with some feeble shots from his back... He should probably try escaping the position instead. Lake unloading with bombs! Vaughn tries to lock up and control but Lake gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Vaughn somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Lake tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vaughn misses with a takedown attempt and Lake counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jackson Lake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricky Vaughn. Lake working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Lake trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Vaughn trying to keep a closed guard but Lake is proving a slippery customer.

That's big trouble for Vaughn! Lake is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Vaughn has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Lake has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lake goes for an armbar but Vaughn turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Vaughn. Vaughn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lake lands a head kick. Vaughn smiles back at him and beckons him forward. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Vaughn wants to clinch and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Lake throws a leg kick but Vaughn checks it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vaughn prevents Lake from getting back to his feet. Vaughn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lake tries to strike from the bottom.

Ricky Vaughn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lake looking for a sweep. Not yet Lake, not yet. Vaughn landing with the ground and pound.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lake has a takedown stuffed. Vaughn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Vaughn fails with a takedown attempt. Vaughn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lake's waist but Lake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vaughn off to one side.
And that's the end of the fight! Jackson Lake showed his dominance in that final round. Well Lake has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
