Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dirk Harvath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tom Jones!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvath moves forwards but Jones connects with a nice, crisp jab.


It looks like Dirk Harvath has been cut.
Jones misses with a straight right.

Jones feints and as Harvath raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Harvath working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jones landing with the ground and pound.
Jones distracts Harvath with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jones's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jones's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Harvath keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Harvath looking for a sweep. Not yet Harvath, not yet.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harvath working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jones.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harvath swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harvath is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Harvath is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Harvath utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Harvath looking for a sweep. Not yet Harvath, not yet.

Harvath working for a triangle but Jones defends it easily.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Harvath is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Harvath is keeping the position for now.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harvath. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones trying to control but Harvath is working from the bottom.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jones scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Despite being in the dominant position, Tom Jones just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Harvath! He's out on his feet! Jones rushes in and drops Harvath with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Tom Jones!
