Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Guilherme Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Corey McKennedy! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz dips down and scores with a jab to the body. A chopping leg kick lands by McKennedy. Diaz misses the shot to the body. McKennedy tries a head kick but it misses.
McKennedy shoots in but Diaz avoids the takedown attempt easily. Diaz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McKennedy moves out of range and avoids them all easily. McKennedy misses with a body shot.
Diaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.

McKennedy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McKennedy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McKennedy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Diaz. McKennedy shoots for a double leg takedown but Diaz sprawls well. He's pushed McKennedy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Diaz throws a predictable looking body shot
and McKennedy counters with a nice body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. McKennedy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Diaz circles away. Guilherme Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Corey McKennedy. McKennedy scores with a kick to the midsection. McKennedy fails to land the takedown. Diaz scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. McKennedy thows a body shot but no joy. McKennedy throws a nice outside leg kick. McKennedy showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Diaz.
Nice shot lands for Diaz. Diaz throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. McKennedy lands with a slapping head kick. McKennedy tries to clinch but Diaz moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McKennedy.
McKennedy uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Diaz. Diaz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. McKennedy wants to clinch. Diaz misses with a body shot.
Diaz takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
It looks like Guilherme Diaz has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! McKennedy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Diaz looks to land a combination. McKennedy sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Diaz is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from McKennedy. Diaz shrugs it off though. McKennedy lands a high kick to the side of Diaz's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! McKennedy dives into guard, looking to finish.
Diaz is rocked! Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - McKennedy advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Oh Diaz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! McKennedy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diaz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. McKennedy passes to side control. Diaz seems to have got his legs back now. McKennedy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Diaz, who protects the arm well. Diaz is not content to let McKennedy control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz prevents McKennedy from moving into mount. McKennedy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Diaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. McKennedy wants to control but Diaz is keeping him busy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Corey McKennedy dominated that round. The cut man is working on Guilherme Diaz's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

McKennedy is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Diaz takes a swing at McKennedy's ribcage but misses. Diaz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McKennedy. A jab from Diaz misses. A nice leg kick lands there from McKennedy. McKennedy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Guilherme Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McKennedy throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Diaz's head. McKennedy lands with a kick to the ribs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A punch combination from McKennedy misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. The fight stays on the outside here - McKennedy looks like he's thinking about clinching though. No luck with that takedown attempt from McKennedy. Diaz takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. McKennedy knocks Diaz to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!? McKennedy tries to advance to mount but can't. McKennedy tries for a kimura but Diaz is defending well. McKennedy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McKennedy trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz prevents McKennedy from improving position. McKennedy trying to control the position but Diaz is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McKennedy taking a breather here. McKennedy trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom. McKennedy wants to take a breather but Diaz manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for McKennedy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McKennedy misses the shot to the body. McKennedy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Diaz throws a right and a left that both miss. McKennedy takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Diaz throws a right and a left that both miss. Diaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Crunch! McKennedy slams his shin into Diaz's torso. McKennedy throws a head kick that half lands.
McKennedy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Corey McKennedy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Guilherme Diaz's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Possibly, maybe, no McKennedy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. McKennedy advances to mount. McKennedy has control of Diaz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Diaz regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Diaz is working to get back to half guard.
McKennedy has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McKennedy is going olschool here, as he tries to force Diaz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Diaz shrugs it off. McKennedy trying to control but he's not successful this time. McKennedy looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McKennedy wants to control the pace but Diaz is squirming around nicely. Corey McKennedy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Despite being in the dominant position, Corey McKennedy just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Diaz misses with a looping right. McKennedy tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault. McKennedy pushes Diaz away with a front kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. McKennedy throws a nice head kick!
Corey McKennedy seems to be getting the better of the standup. McKennedy ducks under a wild hook from Diaz. McKennedy is looking to clinch but Diaz is avoiding it.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Guilherme Diaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A knee to the head by McKennedy.
Guilherme Diaz's cut is getting worse. Diaz working some nice short punches in the clinch. Diaz prevents a takedown attempt there.
McKennedy throws an elbow but it misses.
McKennedy unloads a knee to the mid-section. Diaz looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. McKennedy prevents a body shot from Diaz. McKennedy is working for takedown but Diaz is calmly controlling the position for now.
And that's the end of the fight! Corey McKennedy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well McKennedy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
