Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yandel Mueller (ranked 4133 p4p, 4205 weight class) and Farid Akhundov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yandel Mueller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Farid Akhundov!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akhundov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mueller.
A head kick misses from Akhundov.
Mueller stuffs the takedown attempt from Akhundov. Akhundov gets slowly back to his feet.
Mueller fails with a takedown attempt.
Akhundov tries to clinch up but Mueller circles away and keeps his distance.

Mueller gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akhundov is pressed up against the cage. Mueller has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Akhundov down to the mat. Akhundov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Akhundov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mueller's guard.

Akhundov escapes and gets back to his feet.
Akhundov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Akhundov looks for a takedown but Mueller sprawls well.
Akhundov wants to clinch up but Mueller keeps it at a distance.
Mueller will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Akhundov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mueller gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mueller has Akhundov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Akhundov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Mueller manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mueller will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Akhundov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mueller defends well and Akhundov ends up having to push Mueller into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Akhundov jumps guard but Mueller turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Akhundov has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mueller is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Akhundov.
Mueller wants to stand but Akhundov has his arm trapped.

Akhundov can't do much from the bottom here.
Mueller is looking to take a break and control but Akhundov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Akhundov manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Akhundov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mueller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Akhundov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mueller really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mueller controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Mueller is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Akhundov is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Akhundov has escaped and now he's on top!


Mueller looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Akhundov has picked Mueller up and slammed him! Mueller can't keep hold of the triangle and Akhundov manages to pass to side control!
Akhundov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mueller keeps working.

An elbow from Akhundov crashes against the mat.
Mueller wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Mueller is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Akhundov is looking to take a break and control but Mueller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Akhundov fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Akhundov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mueller throws a right and a left that Akhundov avoids nicely.

Mueller fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Akhundov, pushing him back against the cage.
Mueller is working Akhundov over against the cage.
Akhundov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mueller to keep the fight standing.
Yandel Mueller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Farid Akhundov.
Mueller lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Akhundov backwards.
Akhundov is working for takedown but Mueller is calmly controlling the position for now.
Akhundov drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mueller pulls his leg out and moves away.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Akhundov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mueller as he avoids it easily.
Mueller is looking to counter the offense by Akhundov and move into the clinch.
Mueller punishes Akhundov's body with a nice straight punch.
Akhundov avoids the body shot from Mueller.
Mueller scores with a hook to the body. Akhundov takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mueller is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Akhundov can do to turn this around?

Akhundov wants a takedown.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Akhundov has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mueller after a bit of a struggle.

Akhundov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mueller walks away with a smile on his face. Akhundov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mueller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Akhundov tries to avoid it but Mueller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Akhundov to the ground. Akhundov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Akhundov is looking to clinch but Mueller is avoiding it.
Mueller shoots in but Akhundov avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mueller tries to score a power double leg takedown but Akhundov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mueller somewhat.
Akhundov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mueller sprawls well. Mueller wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Akhundov gets slowly back to his feet.

Akhundov takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Mueller dives in for a single leg takedown but Akhundov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mueller's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Akhundov is trying to force a seperation but Mueller has the dominant position.
Mueller wants a takedown.

Mueller's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mueller will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mueller scoring well with a low kick there.
Akhundov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Mueller gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Akhundov wants a takedown but no success here.
Mueller stalls.
Mueller tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Akhundov avoids it.
A head punch on the inside from Akhundov fails to land.

Mueller pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mueller misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Akhundov cracks Mueller with an open hand slap.
Farid Akhundov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Yandel Mueller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mueller lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Akhundov circles away quickly and effectively.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yandel Mueller showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mueller, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
