This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 25 wins and 18 losses; Kron Gracie! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 126 wins and 75 losses; Jackson Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Ramirez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gracie pinned against the cage. Gracie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gracie drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ramirez sprawls and moves away.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Ramirez is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ramirez manages to get himself to full guard.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Gracie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Ramirez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Gracie content to stall in guard here.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramirez controlling the position. Gracie won't allow Ramirez to sweep him here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Gracie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie stopping the sweep attempt from Ramirez. Ramirez is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Ramirez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracie is one step ahead there. Ramirez being controlled here, momentarily.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ramirez is keeping the position for now. We've been hearing good reports from Gracie's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Gracie engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ramirez keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Ramirez is trying to get back to full guard. Gracie wants to free his trapped foot but Ramirez is holding on for dear life with his legs.

 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Gracie content just to control the position here. This is a sustained period of stalling by Gracie. Ramirez tries to reverse the position but Gracie maintains control.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Gracie wants to control the pace but Ramirez is squirming around nicely. Ramirez stops Gracie from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Ramirez manages to regain half guard. Good work. Ramirez wants to get back to full guard. Gracie stalling.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Ramirez tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control. Still in half guard, Gracie seems content to control.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Ramirez has a hand on Gracie's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gracie takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Score +3 for passing guard: Gracie (13) vs (2) Ramirez Gracie tries to control but Ramirez wriggling away.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Ramirez tries to reverse the position but Gracie maintains control. Gracie sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Gracie with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ramirez manages to control the position for a moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Gracie takes the fight on points by 13 to 2. A relieved looking Kron Gracie thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
