Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shimon Smotritsky (ranked 3822 p4p, 2795 weight class) and Ace Zamora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shimon Smotritsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ace Zamora!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smotritsky thows a left - swing and a miss!
Smotritsky misses with a straight left.
Zamora drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Zamora thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Zamora throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Zamora stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smotritsky swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Zamora postures up in Smotritsky's guard and throws a big left but Smotritsky blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zamora throws a big elbow that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Zamora accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Zamora is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Zamora is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Zamora trying to control but Smotritsky is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Zamora throws the left hand but Smotritsky avoids the punch easily.
Zamora swings for the body but Smotritsky moves out of range.
Zamora misses with a hook.
Zamora darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Smotritsky looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Zamora takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Zamora wants to control but Smotritsky is keeping him busy.
Zamora is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smotritsky is just riding it out for now. Zamora eventually gives up the hold.
Zamora is trying to control. Smotritsky wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smotritsky wants to stand back up but Zamora manages to pass into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Smotritsky wants to get back to his feet but Zamora is dominant here and he's now got Smotritsky's back!

Zamora is working for a rear naked choke. Smotritsky is not defending it well and Zamora has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Smotritsky refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Smotritsky's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ace Zamora!
